A unique concert will take place on the 22nd of August. We invite you to enjoy the masterpieces of Sergei Rachmaninoff in Kensington United Reformed Church, located in the heart of the royal borough of Kensington and Chelsea!

An intimate candlelit evening is devoted to the deep soul and soaring passion of Sergei Rachmaninoff. The warm, human voice of the cello entwines with the piano’s thunder and tenderness, revealing every shade of the composer’s romantic world. This chamber concert offers a fresh way to enjoy iconic pieces.

The concert organisers are the creative agency RED EVENTS & Distribution Ltd, which produces exceptional cultural events in ancient mansions, on rooftops, in greenhouses, and in other atmospheric venues throughout the United Kingdom, Europe, and other countries. Also in the repertoire – a collection of concerts by candlelight and with complete immersion in the space of video art and sound.

Irina Lyakhovskaya (Piano)

Irina Lyakhovskaya is a highly regarded pianist performing as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist. She has given many performances at leading international venues, including the Southbank Centre, Wigmore Hall, Symphony Hall, Cadogan Hall, Kings Place, St John’s Smith Square, the St Petersburg Philharmonic, Smetana Hall, the Porto Coliseum, and at concert clubs and festivals across the UK. In 2016 – 2020, she was an Artist in Residence at Eastbourne Arts Centre, where she performed the complete Beethoven piano sonatas in an 8-concert cycle.

As a concerto soloist, she has performed works by Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann, Grieg, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Skryabin and Rachmaninov. She lives in London and is a faculty member at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Born in St Petersburg, she studied with Alexander Sandler at the St Petersburg Conservatoire and with John Bingham in London.

Flora Valila - Cello

Flora Valila began playing the cello at the age of five under the guidance of Raju Vidali. In 2020, she moved to London to study with Professor David Cohen, where she was generously awarded a full scholarship for her undergraduate studies. Flora is currently pursuing her Master’s degree at the Royal College of Music, studying with Alexander Chaushian. At the age of 12, Flora made her orchestral debut performing Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C, after which she has performed regularly. She has appeared throughout Europe both as a soloist and with ensembles, gaining diverse musical experience through performances at

festivals in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, and England, including the Ljubljana Festival and Festival Verão Clássico in Lisbon.

As a soloist, Flora has performed with numerous orchestras, including l’Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, the Kensington Philharmonic Orchestra, and the St James Chamber Orchestra, among others. She has further enriched her musical education by participating in highly regarded masterclasses with world-class cellists such as Gary Hoffman, Jens Peter Maintz, Leonid Gorokhov, Claudio Bohorquez, Peter Bruns, Martti Rousi, Raphael Wallfisch, Leonard Elschenbroich, and Natalie Clein. Flora is a proud recipient of several awards, including the Trinity College of London Scholarship, the Gladys Bratton Scholarship, the Barbirolli Memorial Prize for Cello, and first prize winner of the Royal College of Music Cello Competition, the Vivian Joseph Classical Concerto Competition, and the Vera Kantrovich Prize, among others.
